THE TREATMENT

Photo rejuvenation for a brighter, more even complexion.

Photo rejuvenation uses controlled light energy to target visible signs of sun damage and uneven pigmentation. At CosMedik, IPL-based treatment can be adapted to concerns such as brown spots, redness and visible small vessels.

The treatment plan is selected according to your skin, the concern being treated and the area. Results develop progressively, and consultation is used to confirm whether photo rejuvenation is appropriate for your goals.

01

Sun damage & pigmentation

Targets the appearance of brown spots, freckles and uneven pigmentation associated with sun exposure.

02

Redness & visible vessels

Can help reduce the appearance of redness, couperosis, rosacea and small visible vessels.

03

Tone & texture

Photo rejuvenation can support a more even-looking complexion and improve the overall appearance of skin tone and texture.

IPL / LIGHT-BASED TREATMENT

Light-based treatment tailored to the concern being treated.

CosMedik uses intense pulsed light (IPL) technology for photo rejuvenation. Different settings and filters allow the treatment to address pigment and vascular colour contrasts at different depths, based on the treatment goal and skin assessment.

Pigment concerns

Light energy is directed toward visible colour contrast in brown pigmentation so treated spots can gradually become less noticeable.

Redness & vascular concerns

IPL can also be selected to target visible red colour contrast associated with small vessels and diffuse redness.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Photo rejuvenation FAQ

A series of 3 to 5 sessions, generally spaced at least one month apart, may be recommended depending on your skin and treatment goals.

Common areas include the face, neck and décolleté. The hands and back are also commonly treated areas.

CosMedik lists sun damage, redness and small visible vessels, rosacea, brown pigmentation, age spots, freckles, dull complexion, fine lines and mild scarring among the concerns that may be treated.

There is usually little to no downtime after photo rejuvenation, and most people can return to their normal activities right away. Temporary redness or warmth may occur, and pigmented spots can appear darker for several days before gradually fading or flaking. Recovery varies according to your skin, the treatment area and the settings used.

Sun exposure and self-tanning can affect treatment timing. CosMedik advises avoiding excessive sun and self-tanners before treatment and protecting the skin with sunscreen. Your consultation will provide instructions specific to you.
